Position of Associate Professor of Strategic Management (1,0 fte) at 
Nijmegen School of Management, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands



Responsibilities
As an Associate Professor of Strategic Management, you will provide 
high-quality courses related to Business Administration. You will be 
involved in the teaching programmes of the Nijmegen School of Management, in 
particular the Bachelor’s programme in Business Administration and the 
Master’s programme in Strategy. Furthermore, you are expected to carry out 
high-quality research activities in the field of Strategic Management, with 
reference to other research groups within the multidisciplinary setting of 
the faculty research institute Institute for Management Research (IMR), and 
to successfully obtain funding from governmental, European as well as 
private institutions. You publish regularly in leading international 
academic journals. You will participate actively in the internationalization 
activities of the Nijmegen School of Management.

The Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) of Radboud University Nijmegen in 
the Netherlands is an academic centre of research and higher learning, 
focusing on institutional and managerial issues within complex organizations 
in both the public and private domain. There are seven focus areas within 
the NSM: Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, 
Economics, Social and Political Sciences of the Environment, Human 
Geography, and Spatial Planning. The NSM strives for a multidisciplinary 
approach whenever possible. Altogether, the NSM employs 250 full-time staff, 
of whom 75% are academics. The NSM has about 3,000 students.

The Department of Business Administration is one of the four departments 
within the NSM and consists of five chairs: Strategy, Marketing, 
Organizational Development and Design, Strategic Human Resources Management 
and Methods. What sets the Nijmegen curriculum in Business Administration 
apart is that it takes a Responsible Organization perspective on Business 
Administration. This focus reflects a broader view concerning the 
developments within the discipline of management itself. In the curriculum, 
the standard course listing is therefore combined with classes that put 
Business Administration within an ethical, historical, philosophical, 
institutional, and methodological perspective. As such, the curriculum 
reflects the research of the Department of Business Administration, which is 
also characterized by a multidisciplinary approach.

What we expect from you
You hold a PhD degree in Business Administration, Economics or the Social 
Sciences. You should have international experience and a broad international 
network. You should have successfully developed one or more research lines 
in the area of Strategic Management evident from a strong publication record 
as well as experience in supervising PhDs and attracting research funding. 
You possess a senior university teaching qualification (in Dutch; UKO) or 
meet the criteria for such a qualification, which is apparent from an 
extended teaching experience, proven effective didactic skills, the capacity 
to develop and implement innovative teaching methods and proven ability to 
supervise the development and implementation of an academic study programme. 
You have managerial skills as well as the willingness to work together with 
other scholars within the Department of Business Administration, to 
contribute to the management and development of the department and to 
represent it at home and abroad. You possess excellent English language 
skills in oral and written communication.

What we have to offer
We offer you:
- employment: 1,0 fte;
- a maximum gross monthly salary of € 5,979 based on a 38-hour working week 
(salary scale 14);
- in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year 
bonus;
- the salary depends on qualifications and experience;
- you will be appointed as an Associate Professor (UHD) in the Dutch 
university job-ranking system (UFO;
- the appointment is scheduled to start before October 2013.
