I recently published a case study that may be of interest to many of you entitled, AIB Nagoya Conference 2011: After the March 11 Earthquake and Tsunami. The case explores the complexities of the decision-making process faced by the 2011 Academy of International Business (AIB) program chair in the wake of the massive earthquake which struck Japan on March 11 and triggered a horrendous tsunami and subsequent radiation leak after damaging a nuclear plant.

The learning objectives of this case are:

• To expose students to an international event setting in the context of a crisis.
• To explore the decision-making process at different points in time as a crisis evolves.
• To develop core decision-making values with respect to different priorities, including cultural sensitivity.
• To demonstrate the importance/risk of information management in the context of a crisis in which key stakeholders have different attitudes toward risks and different perceptions of uncertainty.
