Full Professor International Management (1.0 fte)
The University of
Groningen seeks
to fill a full professor position in the Department
of Global Economics and Management.
The Department of Global Economics and Management, part of the Faculty of
Economics and
Business, contributes to several programs at the bachelor and
master level, to
the research master and to the PhD training program of the
research school SOM.
The department offers two Master of Science programs. It covers
a variety of
interests and backgrounds, and embraces a range of research
approaches and
methods with a keen focus on quality in research and teaching.
The department
focuses on applied as well as fundamental research questions.
Job description
The professor contributes to research, teaching, and
management of the
department. Following a period of growth and continuing
success, the
department wishes to further strengthen its position in
International Management
research. Members of the department have published in a wide range
of journals
the last years (including JIBS, AMJ, SMJ, Org. Studies, JoM, JMS,
MIR, IBR, and
JWB) and the successful candidate contributes to this research
focus. In terms
of teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to the
International Management
courses across the BA and MSc program in International Business
and Management
and to the research
master program of
the research school SOM. The successful candidate will be
asked to
develop and teach courses close to his or her field of research.
Presently, the department is also recruiting for a tenure
track position
in International Management at assistant/associate professor
level.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, candidates should:

publication record

skills, and have
experience in curriculum development

network, and be a renowned
scholar

provide leadership,
motivation and supervision to other staff members

research grants

Conditions of
employment
The chair in
International Management
is a full-time tenured position at the level of full professor;
salary is
according to university standards. Depending on the candidate's
qualifications
and experience, the salary will range between (minimum) € 4,953
and (maximum) €
7,213 gross per month for a full-time appointment (CAO-Dutch
Universities). In
addition there are a 8% holiday allowance and a 8,3% end of year
bonus. Foreigners
can apply for tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable

a PhD degree in business,
economics, or a
related discipline, and expertise in the field of International
Mangement
·
a relevant publication
record demonstrating the
candidate's ability (or potential) to publish in international
academic
publications, preferably in top tier peer-reviewed journals
·
proven interest and ability
in developing
courses and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and
in mentoring
students
·
a relevant international
network
·
a team player with good
communication skills
·
the potential to generate
external funding for
research projects.
Tenure track positions at the Faculty of Economics and Business
are temporary
positions subject to a tenure decision after a period of six
years. Formal
Tenure track requirements include criteria with respect to
research prominence,
teaching and external funds raising activities. During the Tenure
track period
50% of the position is reserved for research and 50% is devoted to
teaching
activities.
Conditions of
employment
The University of
Groningen
offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience.
For candidates
at the assistant professor level, salary is starting from a
minimum of € 3,227
gross per month (salary scale 11) to a maximum of € 5,020 gross
per month
(salary scale 12) for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday
allowance and
8,3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for
employees. Foreigners
can apply for tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable
salary. The University is an equal opportunities employer.
The successful candidate will be appointed for a period of six
years, on the
condition of a positive mid-term evaluation in the third year of
employment. On
the basis of a positive final evaluation in the sixth year of
employment, tenure
will be granted.
