I bought a 6-month re-up personally.  I use Lynda.com all the time and missed it for the few days after the expiration.

For the past two years, Libraries and IT Services has provided faculty, staff, and graduate assistants with access to the full catalog of lynda.com online video tutorials. While response to this service has been generally positive, recent price increases and current usage levels do not justify a continuing central subsidy. Therefore, we will allow our lynda.com subscription to lapse on December 18, 2012.
