Leo, I would be glad to see you in court on that.  It is not merely my email address.  It is my MSU NetID.  It is how I am identified to MSU systems.  You are not the first to confuse one's identity with one's mail address -  and your record is not very good in such matters.

Our NetID Privilege Categories http://techbase.msu.edu/article.asp?id=609 is the ruling information. In the case of Retirees, the term is referring to those who are fully vested for benefits. Anyone who leaves employment in any other manner is "separated from service".
"Separated from the University" is ambiguous.  I have been retired from MSU for more than a year. Do you consider me "separated"? My MSU NetID of [log in to unmask] is mine as a matter of right.

It is established law that an employer's assigned email account/address (assigned or provided to the employee) is the employer's property.
