A Hoophouse Roundtable is being held at Short's Brewing Co. in Bellaire from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Local growers will discuss the travails and successes associated with installing and using unheated hoophouses to extend the growing season. Those who own hoophouses or are considering installing one are invited to attend.

In addition, a Growing Hops program is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Short's in Bellaire. Brian Tennis of the Michigan Hop Alliance will discuss the selection, cultivation and marketing of hops. Donations are appreciated. 

Both events are presented in partnership with the Institute for Sustainable Living, Art & Natural Design and Short's, with support from the Northern Michigan Small Farm Conference and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
