General Research Area: Change strategies to support instructor use of
evidence-based instruction in undergraduate STEM 

 

Note that we expect to hire two post docs to work on related projects in
this research area. Currently only one position has been approved, but
appropriate applicants to this position will be invited to apply for the
second position once it is posted.

 

Western Michigan University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to
work on a NSF-funded Project " WIDER: EAGER: Evidence-based Instructional
Practices at WMU: An Examination of Instructor Practices, Institutional
Climate, and Social Networks." The postdoc will be jointly supervised by Dr.
Charles Henderson (Science Education) and Dr. Andrea Beach (Higher Education
and Director of Faculty Development).  The applicant will play a leadership
role in a multi-disciplinary team that is developing innovative tools to
measure faculty teaching approaches, faculty perceptions of teaching
environments, faculty social networks, and the impact of these on efforts to
promote evidence-based instruction. The candidate is expected to have a
Ph.D. in STEM education or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a
demonstrated interest in and experience in the study and/or promotion of
STEM education reform at the post-secondary level. 

 

Appointments are full time and will be made for a period of up to two years.
Salary is competitive, depending on qualifications and experience. The start
date for the position is flexible, with the option to start as early as
January 1, 2013, or as late as summer 2013. Review of applications will
