Position Number: 17RJB0914 Primary Function of Organizational Unit: The multidisciplinary nature of the Dept of Marine, Earth & Atmospheric Science lends itself to the study of such problems as predication of severe weather, coastal erosion, pollution of surface and ground water, and global climate change. MEAS offers degree programs in marine sciences, geology, and meteorology. Essential Job Duties: The Dept of Marine, Earth & Atmospheric Science in the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences is seeking a creative and dynamic educator who can show a distinguished record of publication in geoscience education research and expertise in a discipline area that falls within the boundaries of global-change science. The specific duties include: teaching an undergrad course in climate science/Earth-system science/global change and offering a graduate course with a focus on global-change education and/or communicating global-change science; also develop an externally funded research program to support MS and PhD students in MEAS and focus on enhancing student learning and scientific literacy in global-change science in undergrad, post grad and/or informal settings. Minimum Experience/Education: Ph.D. with a background in the geosciences or related discipline. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for outstanding accomplishments in research, research supervision, and teaching. Departmental Required Skills: The successful candidate will fill a new tenure-track position at Assistant or Associate Professor level.
