Inward, Outward and Within: Investment and Latin America

Puebla, Mexico April 18-20, 2013

As Latin America becomes more intertwined with the global economy, investment is increasingly occurring not only in a one-way direction from developed world countries such as Spain and the U.S. to the region, but rather in a complex pattern that also involves investment by Latin American MNCs (multilatinas) out of the region, and investment within the region. This multidirectional investment is having important influences on the state of business and government in Latin America. In this line, the Latin American Chapter of the Academy of International Business is pleased to announce that the conference "Inward, Outward and Within: Investment and Latin America" will be held in Puebla, Mexico on April 18-20, 2013.

This year's AIB-LAT conference aims to promote the best and latest research findings and theoretical developments in the topic area of MNC investments involving Latin America. Within this conference, we intend to examine issues related to these increasingly multidirectional investment trends, including important drivers and consequences of these trends such as political alliances, innovation, CSR, staffing implications and many others. Any contribution that furthers these topics, or related ones, in the context of MNCs in Latin America is most welcome. The conference best papers will be eligible for publication in an indexed renowned journal in the field.

We are happy to announce that the University of the Americas Puebla (UDLAP) in Puebla, Mexico will be hosting this year´s event. The UDLAP was founded in Mexico City as Mexico City College, and in 1966, a second campus was established in the city of Puebla (State of Puebla), just 70 miles Southeast of Mexico City, in a new 80-hectare campus on the former hacienda Santa Catarina Mártir. Since then, it has become a landmark of Puebla, the fourth largest city in Mexico, and enjoys the wide support of both the private and public sectors of the state. The UDLAP has been accredited by the US-based SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) and by various Mexican accreditation agencies. According to a recent New York Times article (“36 hours in Puebla”, 09 April 2012), Puebla is “…a colonial capital, known as one of the safest big cities in the country… with is intricate facades of Talavera tile, college town café culture, mild highland climate and historical sites, Puebla is always worthy of a weekend.”

Keynote speakers, scientific committees and panels will be announced shortly.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

To submit your work, use the AIB submission system that will be linked from www.aib-lat.org at least three weeks before the submission deadline. All works will be subject to a double blind peer review process.
