Assistant/Associate Professors of International Business
The Sonoco International Business Department, Darla Moore School of Business, at the University of South Carolina is conducting a search to fill two tenure-track positions. Rank is at the Assistant or Associate Professor, although exceptional candidates at higher rank may be considered. The start date is August, 2013. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. A completed doctoral degree is required, as is expertise in international business theory and multinational strategy. An additional requirement for one of the positions is expertise in innovation and multinational enterprises. For both positions strong preference will be given to candidates with a strong disciplinary base, research focused at the organizational level, and a specific geographic area of expertise. We are interested in exceptional scholars, with demonstrated outstanding research and teaching in the area of international business.
The primary vision for the international business department is to take a leading role in the development of high impact theory and research on global business. The department
is unified by its interest in understanding the multinational enterprise (MNE) and the institutional context within which the MNE operates. The department includes faculty with diverse disciplinary backgrounds. This combination, a shared focus on the MNE
and diverse perspectives, facilitates collaborative efforts to support multidisciplinary, cross-functional, and/or multilevel perspectives. Tenure-track faculty in the department are: Nancy Buchan (Wharton), Marc van Essen (Erasmus), Randy Folks (Harvard),
Omrane Guedhami (Laval), Tatiana Kostova (Minnesota), Chuck Kwok (Texas-Austin), Gerald McDermott (MIT), Lite Nartey (Wharton), Robert Rolfe (Oklahoma), Kendall Roth (USC), Martin Roth (Pittsburgh), and Andrew Spicer (Wharton).
The Darla Moore School of Business is recognized for its innovative international business programs, including an undergraduate international business major, joint undergraduate
international business program with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, international master in business administration, master of international business, a global executive MBA program in Guadalajara, Mexico, and an international business major at the doctoral
level. For the past 22 years the graduate program in international business has been ranked No. 1 or No. 2. The undergraduate international business program has been ranked No. 1 for 15 consecutive years. Given that the Moore School has adopted strategic
