Depending on your subletting this should work. WOL runs layer-2 by either a broadcast or talking to a specific MAC address. This also means it can't route. So the machine you use to send your WOL, will need to be on the same subnet as your target machine.

Subject: [MSUNAG] Wake On LAN

Does anyone use Wake On LAN to remotely wake a machine for maintenance or other tasks? Or can someone comment on whether it even works with MSU's network? My workstation has a static IP address with most of the computers in the building using DHCP addresses, so routing could obviously be an issue.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!
Jon
