Special issue call for papers from International Journal of Managing
Projects in Business

A special issue on:

Project management maturity

International Journal of Managing Projects in Business

Editors:
Dr. Beverly Pasian, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences
Dr. Nigel L. Williams, University of Bedfordshire

Core idea
The last 15 years has seen much debate concerning definitions of project
management maturity and use of various associated models. Despite this
activity, a universal definition does not exist, and more than a dozen
maturity models are in use by organizations across industry. The time has
come to revisit and challenge the underlying theory and assumptions
concerning Project Management maturity.

We are interested in original research articles and case studies by
researchers and practitioners in this area. Certain themes of special
interest are:

. Barriers and enablers to Maturity model adoption in firms
. Application of maturity models in specific industry, country or
organizational settings
. Development of new measures of maturity
(These areas are meant to be indicative, not exhaustive and contributors are
encouraged to propose topics that can expand understanding of the field.)

Process
We suggest a four-step process: 1) potential contributors send a brief
abstract describing the project management maturity issue they want to focus
on. Ideas can range from theoretical issues to more practical questions
concern maturity assessments to debates over the merits of maturity model
adoption (but we are certainly open to others). 2) The editors let the ones
selected know that they are invited to proceed to the next stage 3)
Submission of full paper. 4) A round of review will follow and necessary
revisions done before final submission of the paper. More instructions will
follow for those that pass the first selection gate.

Editors
The special issue is edited by Dr. Beverly Pasian and Dr. Nigel L. Williams,
both active members of the project management community with leadership
roles in IPMA, PMI and the upcoming IPMA Delta Baseline project.

successful author and editor ('Plan to learn: case studies in e-Learning
project management'), she is the founding President of the Project
Management Association of Canada and a member of the IPMA Delta Baseline
project. Upcoming projects include the first book on research methods in
project management (www.gowerpublishing.com/pmresearchmethods).
