Meh, I’m overall very happy with Dell’s hardware.  Sure, I’ve occasionally gotten a dud machine, but generally it’s not a problem, and frankly their service makes up for any hardware failure.  If I call before 5PM, I have parts or a tech the next day.  With their optional 5yr warranty (my new default, along with accidental damage coverage), they’re pretty tough to beat.

Besides Dell hardware, which seems to be having some problems based on these comments, what other hardware are people using on campus and having good experiences with?

HP?

Lenovo?

Sun?

Apple?

Toshiba?

Hang in there, Gary. I was in the same boat. My order was canceled without
notice, then the model discontinued.  New quote/order, then it was sent to
Munising, then the re-order on that could not be sent due to accounting
problems on their end.

I'd really like a better option to order from HP/Acer.

After the order arrived, it had a faulty Bluetooth module, which requires a
motherboard replacement. Still corresponding for three weeks to receive the
part (I'm not sending the whole machine back, it took 3 months to arrive).

And then you have to hope that it gets sent to the right place.  I had two
orders that were sent off to Hickory Corners instead of here.  2 months
after we placed those orders we're still working on trying to get one of
those.

You've got to wonder what's going on over there. It's gotten to the

figuring out how to contact them in the first place. Not exactly good

Hi Lee,

Here is the quote you needed. We have discontinued using the central

team box and I am now handling the MSU account. You can just start

sending things directly to me.
