Dear AIB Members,

FIU CIBER<http://ciber.fiu.edu/> is pleased to announce our 16th Annual PDIB Mercosur Program<http://ciber.fiu.edu/pdibmercosur.php>. This program will explore how Brazil, Argentina, and Chile are dealing with the global recession, especially as these economies relied mostly on commodity prices, will be forced to change policies as a way to entice business creation. Countries such as Argentina and Brazil have showed solid growth during the last two years predominantly due to a strong commodity market. As the trend shifts to business climate as the main driver of growth, these nations must focus on policy changes. This may prove challenging in the southern cone, where governments, particularly Cristina Kishner in Argentina, have been confrontational toward businesses and the private sector in general, or Brazil where import and export policies are hampering investment and competitiveness.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet with business executives from multinational and domestic companies, business professors and experts, including cultural visits to learn and understand the idiosyncrasy of each of these countries.

The program fee is $4,000 USD per participant and includes hotel accommodations with breakfast (single occupancy), domestic flight between Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, transportation to business and cultural attractions, and some meals. Participants may be accompanied by their spouse for an additional $1,200. Spouses will share the hotel room with the participant and will participate in all cultural activities. For a reduced program fee, please inquire about the double occupancy rate. Program fee does not include round-trip international airfare, visas or passport fees, currency exchange fees, internet or lodging incidentals/extensions, meals not covered in the program, and any other voluntary tours or excursions not covered in the program fee.
