ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM THEME

"Global Business and Global Leadership: Theory and Practice"

The past several years have witnessed a myriad of challenges for global
companies. Some of those challenges are economic; some are political. In
both cases, global companies increasingly require the services of managers
and executives who can help create competitive firms, and who can lead
people in support of mutually beneficial goals. This includes both large and
small organizations. While most people agree that all business is global, we
often overlook the fact that all managers must also be global, and at the
heart of this reality is the requirement that managers be able to work
effectively across borders. Today's companies require global leaders who
have a global outlook, and who can manage in highly complex environments.
Unfortunately, we are still learning how global leadership works-or fails to
work-in such environments. We need new information and new theories aimed at
better understanding both leadership dynamics and leadership development.
Such is the purpose of this conference.
