Hi a user from another dept. contacted me about a 100 mb ZIP disk he wants to recover files from. The files contained are genetic sequences. I've got a little experience with that equipment, so I tried seeing if a 250 mb USB ZIP drive would recognize the disk it wont. He says windows asks if the disk should be initialized as it doesn't see it as formatted. I saw the same thing happening when I tried.
From what I understand head misalignment in those drives was a problem inserting your zip disk in one drive after another.
I tried using get data back and all of the other data recovery techniques I know with a USB 250 drive which is all I have. Get data back could not recover anything.
Has anybody out there dealt with similar problems? Any suggestions other than sending the disk to Iomega Data Recovery.
