Greetings! We invite you to apply for "The Math You Need, When You Need It" workshop July 26-28, 2012 in Seattle. All participant costs will be covered. More information and the application are at http://serc.carleton.edu/mathyouneed/workshop2012/ The application deadline is March 10, 2012. What is The Math You Need When You Need It? The Math You Need, When You Need It (TMYN) is a series of stand-alone online modules that help students learn basic mathematical concepts essential to success in introductory geoscience courses. The modules have been tested in the classroom and have supported and remediated students' quantitative skills at nearly 30 institutions. More Information About the Workshop The workshop will be held at Highline Community College near Seattle, July 26-28, 2012. Faculty from across the country will gather to address the advantages and challenges of teaching introductory geoscience quantitatively. During the workshop, you will design a plan for incorporating The Math You Need in your own (pre-existing) introductory geoscience course. Faculty members who have used TMYN will help lead the workshop and facilitate collaboration among participants with similar interests. The workshop will begin the evening of Thursday, July 26 and conclude Saturday, July 28 after lunch. We'll end at a reasonable time on Saturday so that those of you who wish to extend your stay and explore the Pacific Northwest on your own time may do so.
