We have been backing up laptops to a network share. Last week a users laptop c: drive crashed, the disk was not readable even in another system. So we got a new hard drive. I attempted to restore the data (as I have done before to the original hardware) and the restore fails to restore the c:\program files and the c:\program files (X86) subdirectories. Everything else restores. Has anyone else run into this? The error log states that it skipped all files in the program files and the program files (X86) sub dir’s. When I do the repair mode boot up off the windows disc, it says the network location for the restore is not available. It prompts me for username/password but never finds the backup files.
Just curious if anyone else has run into this and if they have successfully restored an image from a network location, or usb drive to a machine with different hardware, or just different c: drive.
