Having a traceability system in place is essential to track your fresh farm produce, if you ever need to in the case of a question by a buyer or consumer. For example, if there is a food illness outbreak. Because of this food safety factor, the USDA NOP organic certification program requires that you have a traceability system in place. Also this system is needed for your farm for food safety certification, commonly known as GAPs (Good Ag Practices).

Tune in today for a 1.25 hour webinar (2-3:15 p.m. est) for a webinar on understanding and creating a traceability system for your farm. Included will even be templates for you to use on your farm, that can be used on a clipboard or computer-your choice.

If you are unable to tune in today visit the E-Organic Website the next day to see the archived program at http://www.extension.org/pages/25242/webinars-by-eorganic

To register for the webinar, co-sponsored by North Central SARE and E-Organic, visit the registration link: http://www.extension.org/pages/60944/tracking-your-produce-for-your-business-and-health-webinar

You do need internet connection to participate in the live webinar. You will have the opportunity to ask question to the presenter, Colleen Bess, retired Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the initial inspector for Michigan GAPs program up to 2010.

Hope you can join us today at 2 pm est.
Cheers
Vicki
