Dear AIB Colleagues,

As president of the Industry Studies Association, I would like to take this opportunity to extend a special invitation to AIB members to submit an abstract for consideration as we plan for our Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, May 29-June 1.  If last year's conference offers any guide, I can promise you an exceptionally engaging two days of high quality research presentations grounded in industry-specific research settings.  Please review the materials forwarded with this note, and consider joining us.  Do not hesitate to contact me or the program committee with any questions.

Sincerely,
Tom

Subject: Now Accepting Abstracts - 2012 Industry Studies Conference
Date: October 27, 2011 10:19:40 AM CDT

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting abstracts for the 2012 Industry Studies Conference, which will take place at the University of Pittsburgh on May 29-June 1.  Visit www.industrystudies.pitt.edu/pittsburgh12 and submit your abstract today!

While the 2012 Industry Studies Annual Conference is open to all papers and panels relevant to industry studies, we are especially encouraging panels and presentations this year that examine the connections between policy and industry studies. Because industry studies focuses on the details of how real-world industries operate, we can illuminate the effects of governmental policy on industry in a unique manner.

The Program Committee has developed topical research streams to organize the submission process, and we encourage researchers to match their abstracts to streams that reflect their research. However, the streams are not meant to be exhaustive, and the committee also welcomes submissions in the “General Industry Studies” category. Panels and presentations related to the special theme should be matched to the most relevant stream below. If a submission is relevant to more than one stream, please pick the stream in which you would prefer to present.

  1. General Industry Studies
  2. Energy, Power, & Sustainability
  3. Globalization: Management & Policy Implications
  4. Innovation, Entrepreneurship, & Technology Management
  5. Labor Markets, Organizations, & Employment Relations
  6. Transportation & Logistics
  7. Research Methods

A copy of the conference CFP and a description of the research streams are attached.

We look forward to receiving your abstract and seeing you in Pittsburgh!

Sincerely,

2012 Industry Studies Conference Program Committee

Edward Anderson, University of Texas at Austin (program chair)
Peter Berg, Michigan State University (program co-chair)
Rafiq Dossani, Stanford University (program co-chair)
Hamsa Balakrishnan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Carey Durkin Treado, University of Pittsburgh
Adam Seth Litwin, Johns Hopkins University
Gail Pesyna, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
Ekundayo Shittu, Tulane University
Sheryl Winston Smith, Temple University
