The Institute for International Business (IIB) at the University of Colorado Denver is pleased to announce its ninth China faculty development in international business program, “China: A New Phase in Economic Growth and Development”.  This program will be held January 1-11, 2012 in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu.  We invite you and your faculty colleagues to participate in this program.

This ten-day program focuses on new development in China’s Five Year Plan, approved March 14, 2011 by the PRC National People’s Congress.  The Plan depends on massive infrastructure projects and export driven growth as primary models and calls for GDP annual growth of 7%.  But it also turns its attention to “quality growth” and a focus on the individual.  The Plan introduces Westward Expansion Development, Manufacturing to Service, High Value Added Research and Development, Sustainability, Clean Energy and Environmental Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Quality of Life.

Participating faculty members will greatly enhance their abilities to internationalize their courses and add more global business content to their curricula, explore research opportunities, and network with other faculty interested in international business and in China.

This faculty development program is hosted by the IIB and Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the University of Colorado Denver, and co-hosted by Brigham Young University CIBER and Morehouse College.  It is co-sponsored by the US Department of Education through the CIBERs at George Washington University, Michigan State University, University of Connecticut, University of Hawaii at Manoa, University of Illinois, University of Maryland, University of Pittsburgh, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The participant cost of the program is $2900 based on double occupancy, with an additional $665 for a single supplement.  The fee does not include airfare to and from Asia, incidental expenses, and a few meals.  The deadline for registration is Friday, October 14, 2011.

For more information about the program, please see the attached brochure and draft program information.  To register for the program, please go to
