Goal of the workshop (i.e., learning objectives):
· To study and discuss human resource strategy and practices in Emerging Multinational Companies, especially focusing on the practices in their overseas subsidiaries;
· To identify the features and challenges of human resource practices in Emerging MNCs;
· To investigate how Emerging MNCs manage the human resource in their subsidiaries in developed and developing economies;
· To explore how Emerging MNCs human resource practices are integrated with local business system and how these influence the operation in overseas subsidiaries.
Content of the workshop:
For Emerging MNCs’ headquarters, this workshop seeks to:
· Provide a better understanding of the business strategies and practices in EMNCs
· Understand the challenges and problems facing senior managers and HR managers in cross-national management
· Identify the typical global human resource strategy of EMNCs in different national business systems
· Identify the latest trends in global human resource practices of EMNCs
For subsidiaries, this workshop seeks to:
· Provide a better understanding of human resource practices in overseas subsidiaries
· Understand how culture and institutional differences challenge the management in subsidiaries
· Identify ways in which subsidiaries can be well managed and integrated with practices in EMNCs’ headquarters
· Understand the relationship between subsidiaries and headquarters
