Karl, UARC conducted the MSU Internet and Mobile Technology Survey in March-May 2011, and got responses from 1,263 students, faculty, and staff at MSU. It included questions about Internet use and social media (among other things). You can view the questionnaire at http://techsurvey.usability.msu.edu/ We're still writing up the results for publication/press release, but I'd be happy to share the findings from specific questions upon request. While I can send you the handout that we presented at the MSU Mobile meeting, it was aimed at mobile developers, so it only has data for the questions that we felt they'd be most interested in. If you (or anyone else) would like results from other questions, please email me. I already have the responses to each question broken down by group (faculty, students, staff), and student year (Fresh, Soph, Junior, Senior, Grad). Also note that we're going to release the entire dataset to the public (with IP addresses removed to protect privacy) so that others can conduct independent analyses of the data, and dig into it as much as they'd like. We're also hoping to conduct the survey annually, so we're interested in feedback on changes that should be made. -- Graham L.
