Post of Professor of International Business and Public Policy

Applications are invited from individuals with research and teaching experience in the areas of international management, international political economy or strategic management for a professorship in the area of international business and public policy.

The School welcomes applications from scholars working at the interface of international political economy and strategic management. Areas of interest include: public-private governance in the international political economy; non-market strategy and corporate political activity; and comparative business-government relations.

The School of Management and Business (SMB) is in the early stages of a growth plan that will see student and academic staff numbers expand significantly.  Applications to the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are up considerably, and the School is developing a range of enhancements to its BSc degrees.  The School is also engaged in the expansion of its postgraduate programmes and the successful candidate will play an important role in the new MSc, International Business and Public Policy.

Twelve new academic appointments have been made since September 2009.  Faculty members have recently published in, among others, Accounting and Business Research, Applied Financial Economics, Arts Marketing: An International Journal, Industrial Relations Journal, International Journal of the Economics of Business, International Journal of Management Reviews, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Technology Management, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of World Business, Journal of World Trade, Organization, Organization Studies, Science and Public Policy and Technovation,

Academic staff members have also undertaken consultancy and research for a range of organizations, including the OECD, the National Health Service and the Welsh Assembly Government.  Research grants include a major award from the European Union for a study of entrepreneurship in Wales and Ireland (http://www.slniw.com/).

Significant new research projects are also underway at the School’s two research centres: the Centre for Local and Regional Enterprise (CLaRE) and the Centre for International Business and Public Policy (CIBaPP). It is envisaged that the person will take a key role in the development of CIBaPP and details of the current research projects can be found at: http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/smb/research/cibapp/

The successful candidates should be in possession of a PhD and show substantial evidence of research and teaching experience. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research in business-public policy and contribute to the School’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and PhD supervision.
