Mine did about the same thing.   The registration seemed to fail.
But, then it seemed to be all OK and registered the next time I
tried it maybe 5 or 10 minutes later.   The attempt that claimed 
to fail was clearly a first attempt to register it, since I had 
just acquired the device and it was the fist time I had turned it 
on anywhere near campus.   Anyway, it seems to work now with no problem.
