Another reason not to use municipal yard waste to make compost!! Please read on and take necessary precautions!
Those on the SanNet listserv are seeking input in this conversation if you care to join and join in or you can start your own conversation on the Michigan Organic listserv. It would be great if our large municipal fields (aka golf courses) too an environmental stand on this and agree not to use the pesticide, Imprelis from DuPont.

Subject: [USCC] New Herbicide-Imprelis

There is a new herbicide from DuPont (Imprelis). On the label it states "do
not allow clippings for collection to compost facilities. This compound is
very similar to the herbicide Clopyralid. At DuPont training meetings they
avoid the issue and when confronted they say that no one will enforce the
label prohibition. I remember the problem that Clopyralid caused and this
seems like a repeat of the problem. Is the compost council aware of this
herbicide? Are the state regulators aware of the potential problems this
cause?

If anyone has more information we'd like to hear about it.

Thanks,
Cary
