Association of Japanese Business Studies Paper Development Workshop
The Association of Japanese Business Studies (AJBS) will hold a special Paper Development Workshop, on June 23rd, 2011, in Nagoya, Japan. This special PDW is being held in conjunction with the AJBS annual conference (June 24th-25th), which immediately precedes the annual meeting of the Academy of International Business (AIB).
The primary purpose of the AJBS PDW will be to provide advice to scholars who are currently undertaking research in the broad area of Japanese business and who aim to publish their research in international journals. Specifically, the PDW will offer researchers the opportunity to receive feedback on their work, through round-table sessions with established and internationally active scholars, as well as insights into international publishing, methods and topics, through panel discussions and presentations. In addition, the PDW aims to promote and strengthen research ties between Japan-based and international researchers, and to stimulate discussion on current topics of interest to scholars in the field of Japanese business and management.
The planned structure of the AJBS PDW is as follows: The morning session will focus on presentations by leading scholars, addressing various topics including publishing strategies, research agendas, and methodologies. In the afternoon, participants and senior faculty will split up into smaller groups to discuss current reseach topics and to exchange feedback on submitted papers and research ideas.
Submission to the AJBS PDW is open to both faculty (regardless of rank) and Ph.D. candidates that have not previously published in international journals. Submissions may be of two types: shorter research proposals (maximum of 3,000 words) or longer papers (maximum of 40 pages). The shorter research proposals should include specification of a research question, literature review and hypotheses, research design and methods, and expected contributions. Longer papers should be fully developed, including literature review, data and analysis, references, etc. Any topic or empirical focus is welcome, as long as it involves management-related issues of relevance to Japan and/or Japanese companies. Papers do NOT have to pertain to international business, but they must be in English.
The deadline for submissions is April 15th 2011 Submissions should use 12 pt Times New Roman font, 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins and double-spacing. The word and page limitations listed above are inclusive of all tables and figures. Submissions, along with the participant’s CV and list of research interests and publications, should be sent to Jesper Edman ([log in to unmask]">[log in to unmask]).
