Dear AIB members, The VI Valencia Summer School in Business and Economics is a high- level training programme organized by the Faculty of Economics (University of Valencia) and the AIB Western Europe Chapter. The summer school is sponsored by Fundación la Caixa. The main aim of the summer school is to make valid and rigorous contributions to the selected areas of study. It will encourage interaction between participants and speakers from diverse backgrounds, while allowing for enjoyment of the city of Valencia. This current year the summer school offers two highly-specialised courses in economics and business, taught by professionals who are leading figures in their field. A. Course in Economics, June, 13th-17th. The economics of international migration. Professor: Giovanni Peri, Department of Economics, University of California, Davis, USA. B. Course in Management, July, 4th -8th. Developing country multinational companies: How can they help develop theory? Professor: Álvaro Cuervo-Cazurra, Sonoco International Business Department, Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, USA. The main aspects that make the VI Valčncia Summer School on Business and Economics different are: • The quality of the lectures, leading international researchers • The courses offered, highly specialised and of great contemporary importance, that constitute an invaluable contributions for the issues covered • The approach to teach the courses, that combine theory and practise • The interdisciplinary structure of the school that helps discussions and contact of students from different countries and profiles (students, professionals, etc.) • The life together in Valencia, during a week, for teachers and students both in the classroom and in some social activities organised during the week of the course.
