Call for Papers
Paper development workshop, April 1 2011
Organized by the Department of Strategic Management (SMG)
Copenhagen Business School

Understanding Absorptive Capacity:
Micro-foundations, Micro-Macro Dynamics and Organizational Antecedents

The Department of Strategic Management and Globalization (SMG) at Copenhagen Business School warmly invites submissions for a focused paper-development workshop on absorptive capacity, which will be held on Friday April 1, 2011 at Copenhagen Business School.

About the workshop

The aim of the workshop is to offer a supportive setting for participants to receive valuable feedback on papers in various stages of development, and to offer the opportunity to meet with others who share an interest in absorptive capacity. We seek papers on all aspects of absorptive capacity, and are particularly interested in papers that seek to advance our understanding of organizational absorptive capacity by addressing any of the following themes:

 * Papers that seek to uncover the micro-foundations or individual-level origins of absorptive capacity

 * Papers that focus on the micro-macro dynamics of absorptive capacity, such as the mechanisms through which individual absorptive capacity may aggregate up to the organizational level

 * Papers that address the organizational and managerial antecedents of individual and organizational absorptive capacity, such as incentive systems, organizational structure, and HRM practices

Submission instructions

The deadline for submissions is on February 1, 2011 and authors will be notified about the acceptance of their paper no later than February 7. Participants are requested to confirm their participation by registering for the workshop no later than March 11. Please see the workshop website<http://uk.cbs.dk/forskning/konferencer/understanding_absorptive_capacity> for practical information on, for instance, accommodation and transportation.

For any questions regarding the workshop, please contact Jasper Hotho ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). For practical issues, please contact Maria Kahlen ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).

Please feel free to forward this call to interested colleagues. We look forward to receiving your submissions, and to welcoming you in Copenhagen.
