Is it the same blue piece of foam they stuck between the copper and GPU on the D630? I hate that thing and really wish they had gone the extra 2.5mm and given us more metal.

It is most likely the same issue known with the XPS M1330 (which I have). In that model Dell used a crappy thermal pad between the Nvidia graphics chip and the heat sink. Since there is poor thermal conduction between the chip and the heatsink the laptop will start to overheat when running graphics intensive processes (i.e. games, video, etc).
They've recently agreed to a settlement - free repairs on the affected units and refunds of prior paid repairs. |
