And indeed, our M does V...  The HP hardware 
still seems pretty solid, but the software that 
gets installed with their hardware is junk, and 
we gave up on HP products many years ago.  I 
would reconsider them if they changed their 
software policies, but of course since I no 
longer install HP stuff I will never know when 
that happens.  In the meantime, we have found 
Dell printers to be a good choice overall; I 
myself have a Brother that suits me just fine, 
but I don't know how that purchasing decision got 
made (it was an extra that just happened to be on hand when I needed it).
