I'm a big fan of Sam's Teach Yourself MySQL in 10 minutes by Forta.  Forta is an occasional adjunct professor here on campus, and the book is a national best-seller.  If you want to borrow my copy, let me know.

Check out the ones written by Jonathan Geenick...he is really good as a
DBA and writes so the reader comprehends what he means.

Any previous use of SQL databases at all? The O'Reilly books are a great
reference in my experience.
