I'm mostly with David on this.

I wouldn't post a message like the original one to the list without a couple
of sentences explaining what the product is and why someone might be
interested. However, it wouldn't be so much related to malware concerns.

Without including a description, I would feel I was wasting readers' time
and doing the group a disservice. Taking the extra minute to explain my post
adds value, which is what a list like this should be all about. I figure the
typical post here is of interest to less than 20% of readers, and sometimes
less than 5%. If I post something with no description, I'm forcing every
reader to make an extra effort to go to the link and try to figure out what
it's about and why it's worthwhile, which we all know can be tricky with the
way many sites are designed. If I spend an extra minute or two to explain my
take on the site, then I've saved a lot of people a little time. 80% or more
of the people can delete the message right away and continue with their day.

And if I were to make a tweet about the subject, the short and sweet of it
is this -- I wouldn't want to start turning a group like this into Twitter.
