Conversation with Michael Pollan


When: April 11, 2010, from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Where: Zingerman’s Roadhouse, Ann Arbor, MI

Why: Author Michael Pollan (“Omnivore’s Dilemma”, “In Defense of Food”) will come to Zingerman’s Roadhouse for “an intimate conversation” with a few people. The main event (6:30-8:30 p.m.) is limited to 100 people. A pre-event gathering (5:30-6:30 p.m.) is limited to 20 people.

All food will be local and organic, produced by Zingerman’s chef Alex Young. The event will raise money for two Ann Arbor food projects: Edible Avalon and the Homegrown Food Festival, and for Pollan’S new film, “Growing Health”.

Dairy Farmers Wanted: Positioning your dairy business for the future Workshop


Tired of attending workshops where you feel like you’re just another cow in the pasture? This workshop Positioning your dairy business for the future, goes far beyond simply presenting information, as participants will receive individual attention before, during and after the program that will help them examine where they are in relation to the rest of the Michigan dairy industry and strategically plan for the future.

Participants should bring their farms’ last four years of tax records (schedule F, 4797 and balance sheets). A member of the MSU Extension Farm Information Resource Management (FIRM) team will contact the first registrant from each operation prior to the class to create a customized worksheet for use during the class and answer any questions about the program.

How: Cost: $50 for the first person from dairy business (includes a personalized financial workbook) $40 for each additional person attending from the same operation (no workbook included).
