*Assistant Professor wanted in Sustainable Development Program at
Appalachian State University.*

The Goodnight Family Sustainable Development Program at Appalachian State
University seeks an Assistant Professor beginning August 2010. A talented
scholar/practitioner is needed to strengthen the BS concentration in
Agrecology and Sustainability Agriculture. This is a 9 month position with
possibility for summer teaching.

*Preferred qualifications*: PhD and experience in one or more of the
following areas: Animal Science/Husbandry, Agricultural Economics,
Agribusiness or Farm Management. ABD with completing by December 2010 may be
considered. Dedication to quality learner-centered teaching in both theory
and practice; applied professional experience in small farm management and
sustainable livestock production; evidence of experience in outreach and
community service’ and interest in working in and toward sustainable and
socially just local food systems.

Candidates are expected to provide classroom and laboratory instruction in
Farm Management and Livestock Production and Management, as well as in
courses such as Science for Sustainability, Global Systems Science,
Principles of Sustainable Development, and Principles of Agroecology.
Responsibilities also include developing new undergraduate/graduate courses
in Agroecology/ Sustainable Agriculture; advising undergraduate and graduate
students; serving on thesis committees; producing scholarly work in
research, publications and grant writing; and participating in university
and community service.

*Eden Village Farm, Farm Manager Wanted*

Eden Village Camp and the Jewish Farm School seek an experienced farmer to
design, implement and manage a new organic and educational farm. The farm
will be on 2 acres of land that has been an open field for many years. The
focus in year one will be designing educational elements into the farm,
building soil fertility, producing food for the campers, staff and
off-season programs, and helping to develop a long term vision for the farm.
The Farm Manager will work alongside the Lead Farm Educator and Farm Interns
and will oversee all operations of the Farm.

*Eden Village Farm Interns/Counselors*

Eden Village Camp and the Jewish Farm School seek 2 Farm Interns/Counselors.
The internship begins in April and runs through October and offers a unique
and varied experience. Throughout the season interns will be trained in
organic farming, Permaculture, forest gardening, Jewish agricultural laws,
natural building and experiential education. In the summer interns will work
as farm counselors for Eden Village Camp and will continue to work on the
farm and serve as educators for programs in the fall.* *

*Baker’s Farm Vegetable Farm Production Manager*

Baker’s Farm is a well established forty acre farm in New Hampshire
comprising of diverse vegetables, cut flowers, small fruit and greenhouses.
They have a busy roadside stand and attend three markets per week.

They are looking for a self motivating, entrepreneurial person to manage
field production from seed to harvest.

*Qualifications:* Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in,

   - Tractor work: Transplanting, cultivating, spraying, field preparation
   and mulch laying.

*NOFA-NY Education and Outreach Coordinator*

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY) is seeking
an Educational and Outreach Coordinator to work with the Executive Director
and other staff to lead the organization’s farmer, gardener, consumer, and
small business educational initiatives including the annual conference,
field day series, and general educational outreach.

*Responsibilities:* The position requires a self-starter who has a
background in and/or experience in organic farming, event planning, and
excellent organizational skills. The candidate must be passionate and
knowledgeable about organic farming and gardening and have staff management
experience. The position is based in the new NOFA-NY office in Rochester, NY
