MOFFA Requesting Proposals for Mobile Food Processing Unit


MOFFA is requesting proposals for individuals, organizations, or groups to use the MOFFA Mobile Food Processing Unit for organic processing that includes education, outreach, and community development efforts that promote local and organic food.

The trailer was built in 2000 with funding from the USDA North Central SARE Program. Its 22ft long and equipped with a convention oven, an 8 burner propane range and commercial exhaust hood fan, a commercail freezer, and on-demand water heater, a triple stainless steel sink for dishes, and a single sink for washing vegetables. It also has stainless steel counter tops, several electrical outlets, and hookups for water supply hose, propane taken, and a 34 gal water holding tank. Towing requires a least a 1 ton vehicle with a hitch.

Proposals must be submitted to the MOFFA Board no later than March 1, 2010. Final decision on all proposals received by the deadline will be made at the MOFFA Board meetings in March and April, 2010.

Seeking Experience Farmer for Thornapple CSA


An experience farmer(s) is needed to work with a successful 2nd year CSA with a planned projected membership of 50 shares for the 2010 season. The CSA is lead by a core group of dedicated members. The organic farm is located in Charlotte, MI and includes a 30x100ft Hoophouse and 1 ½ acre of land. Irrigation is available.


Ideas and plans to move the CSA forward are wanted. This job requires someone with people skills and farm skills.
