Broad themes pursued through CAFÉ activities include Web design, standards, development, services, and collaboration tools. Specific topics may include Web programming, mashups, rich media, content management systems, information architecture, usability, accessibility, Web hosting, storage, security, writing for the Web, and Web 2.0 tools such as social networking. Attention is also paid to expanding awareness of professional development opportunities for higher education Web professionals. Through its activities, the WebDev CAFÉ fosters a supportive, knowledgeable, and multidisciplinary community of practice for Web professionals, whether they are from staff, faculty, or student ranks. The community holds monthly meetings and quarterly forums.
