What model thinkpad is it? There are instructions that reference a shortable contact inside the DIMM area on the bottom of the laptop, so you may have luck with that. ---- Jack Kramer Computer Systems Specialist University Relations, Michigan State University w: 517-884-1231 / c: 248-635-4955 ________________________________ From: Oscar Castaneda <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: Oscar Castaneda <[log in to unmask]> Date: Thu, 21 May 2009 13:34:12 -0400 To: <[log in to unmask]> Subject: [MSUNAG] thinkpad problem I have a user with a Thinkpad. The user changed the backup battery and after that when he tries to boot it up, when the BIOS is booting, a black screen comes with a little computer and lock icons and asks you for a password. I searched the problem and it seems to be a common problem, people refers to it as a BIOS password. I didn't heard the term. But nobody has a solution. Any ideas? -- Oscar Castaneda Michigan State University
