Interesting.

In this case, I made the change last Wednesday or Thursday. As of this
morning, it still hadn't shown up. Will updating RUS cause the clients
to update sooner? I can make the change appear by manually downloading
the address book, so assumed that updating RUS would have no effect.

Thanks to both of you for your thoughts!

Al

Jon is right. Additionally, you can run an update on the Recipient
Update Service (RUS) located under system manager. That should take
care of it.

Firm.

Outlook will eventually catch up on the downloaded copy and that person
will disappear. I think by default, it downloads every 24 hours, but
with the program getting closed and opened repeatedly, I don't know how
that affects the schedule. Plus with the server regenerating the GAL at
night, the cycles can be thrown off that way too if they don't happen to
match up for a few days.

Also, I've had problems where I can force a GAL update in the middle of
the day and then make Outlook try to download the changes, but even when
the download completes, the changes aren't there. So I'll usually just
delete the OAB files and redownload from scratch.

As far as I know, there's no GPO to force more frequent updates in
Outlook.

The subject pretty much says it all. Last week, I removed a user from a
distribution group; However as of today, most of my clients are still
showing that person as being part of the list. If I manually redownload
the offline address book on each client, the change shows up. Is there
a GPO or something that controls the frequency of address book updates?

TIA,
