participate in the 2nd Annual Organic Food and Farming Reporting
Session that will be held during Agriculture and Natural Resource Week at
the Kellogg Conference Center on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 8:30-5:00. The conference
center is located at 55 South Harrison Avenue East Lansing, MI 48824-1022.

You
are invited to participate in a day of learning and discussion on topics of
organic research relevant to Michigan’s production and marketing of
organic food. This session will present Michigan State University researchers,
Michigan expert farmers, Michigan State University Extension Educators, and MSU
graduate students offering their findings on organic agriculture production and
marketing. Dr. Doug Buhler will provide our Opening Talk, entitled, “
Integrating Organics Into MSU.” This will be a great
opportunity for all, with the goal to feature Michigan’s organic
agriculture research and organic food access and discuss which directions we should
go to increase our production, opportunities and livelihoods.
This
is a full day of 10 minute reports with 5 minutes of discussion followed by each
presentation. The sessions include organic marketing and outreach, organic pest
management, soil building, organic vegetable production and organic fruit
production. An overall group discussion will be held at the end of each
session.
