Hello,

Chris is urging action, and I agree that action is needed. Let's be proactive, but focused and as informed as possible. (I'm scrambling to catch up on this issue.)

First, who can help us clarify the danger points in this legislation and evaluate the degree of threat to small farms? Is there one person in the US Department of Agriculture who would be our best contact? Or would we be wiser to turn to someone in Michigan's Department of Agriculture whom we might ask to be our "point person," illuminate the most important facts, and advise on a course of action?

Second, who can predict this proposed legislation's time line? One of the earliest emails that I saw regarding HR 875 said that its timing was being crafted to prevent discussion. I didn't understand that comment. Is this accurate?

It seems like we should be talking to national farm organizations, ag journalists, and national media. How can we organize this grass roots effort in an informed and effective way? Does anyone on this list know if any other group in Michigan already has a concerted effort underway?

Hi
First of,
Please stop wasting time on the profane emails, it fills up my in box with unnecessary emails. And i don't have the time to deal with that.
Water under the bridge, move on !
Second, just started reading about this subject and it's scary.
We need to unite, make up a standard letter and have everybody sign and (e) mail it to those in power. Not just involve your farmer friends but customers, friends and family.
Get some media attention going via the net and the airwaves.
This subject is in need of public awareness. (that's my view).
Their should be a smart person in this list who can organize this.
Let's talk about that.
Have a great day.

Chris Reijmerink,
