I don’t necessarily
want to test bandwidth of an internet link, more along the lines of current
activity. It looks like this is similar to the online speed tests, but I
could be wrong.

We use a tool from Myspeed.com
They have a time-limited free version but the paid version can be
useful for ongoing network monitoring. Sometimes the difference between a
good link and a marginally sub-optimal one can only be recognized using a good
monitoring tool especially when faster connections are involved.
Talk to me if you are interested in automating their tools.

Subject: [MSUNAG] Bandwith
monitoring App
I need a simple application that
will give me some kind of real time graph of lan traffic on a particular
system. I have googled around and havent found anything thats really what
I want. I have tried bandwidth monitor pro, which was fine except my
trial ran out and I dont really want to pay for it when I'm sure there has to
be something free out there.
Has anyone used anything or have any suggestions?
It is for a windows box.
Thanks
