Summit: April 28, 2009

Hello,

Below are the preliminary information and registration instructions for the 2009 Governor’s Education Summit!  As I’ve spoken about in previous meetings and emails, the conference’s theme is Breaking through Barriers:  Building a Network for College Access and Success.  Make sure to pencil in April 28th into your calendars.

It would be very helpful if you could distribute this information widely.  In order for us to truly build a statewide college access network, we need participation from diverse constituencies.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great weekend,

Brandy

Breaking through Barriers:
Building a Network for College Access & Success

April 28, 2009
Lansing, MI

Since 1995, the Governor's Education Summit™, co-hosted by the Michigan Foundation for Education Leadership and the Education Alliance of Michigan, has worked in collaboration with the Governor's office and the Michigan Department of Education to engage more than 600 participants in discussions about important issues in education.

As referenced in Governor Granholm's State of the State Address this week, Michigan will launch a Michigan College Access Network that will bring together foundations, business and labor organizations, the faith-based community, our K-12 schools and our higher education institutions to get all Michigan students on the path to education after high school.

This new organization - the Michigan College Access Network - will be born at the 2009 Governor's Education Summit™ in April and will make sure every young person in Michigan and their parents know how to plan for, apply for and pay for a college education or technical training.

This is an opportunity you won't want to miss. Be sure to join the hundreds of people interested in improving the education of students across Michigan by attending the 14th Annual Governor's Education Summit™ on Tuesday, April 28th. For more detailed information, visit www.mfel.org.

Registration is open - with an early registration rate of $150 (until March 31st). Click here to register today!
