If that's true, and they don't read the NAG, I'd LOVE to find out how they're doing it. Office 2007 no longer is just a native MSI installer and needs to be setup driven, like stupid Adobe products. I'd thought of just doing the Office Customization Wizard (invoked from running setup.exe with the /admin switch) and generating the .MSP patch so it has the options configured the way I want as well as eliminating the activation process, and then just using GPO to put an install icon on the Desktop, but since I can't guarantee that the user is an admin (though it's easy enough to check), and I want the installer to execute as SYSTEM, I don't want to do it this way. So if you can pass this along to them, that'd be fantastic. I'm obviously not the only one interested in the GPO solution. I wouldn't care at all if we had SMS or SCCM2007, but I don't, so I need GPOs for now :) Thanks! We're going to be starting the update in HR in a couple of weeks, I'm told. The guys say they are going to do a GPO upgrade, and I think they have tested it out, so this may not be correct information. I have been using it for over a year. It takes some getting used to coming out of 2003, but I find that I like it better. It was worth the switch for me. ________________________________ From: MSU Network Administrators Group [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Troy Murray Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 3:48 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [MSUNAG] Office 2003 or 2007? I'm curious how Office 2007 installs are happening. In the past I've deployed both Office 2002 and Office 2003 using GPO and it worked seamlessly and with ease. In looking at some of the resource kit documentation, I'm lead to believe that you cannot do a GPO install of Office 2007 like you did with Office 2002 and 2003, is that correct? -t On Jan 14, 2009, at 3:40 PM, Ehren Benson wrote: Any new installs are getting 2007, people with 2003/XP are getting upgraded as they request it.
