Any flash media (thumb drives, and solid state included) has a finite write lifespan. (http://ask-leo.com/should_i_defragment_my_usb_flash_drive.html, http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/07/21/samsung_32gb_solid_state_drive/1, http://www.allbusiness.com/electronics/computer-equipment-computer-chips-memory/6301482-1.html). If you can find articles that obsolete this, I would be very interested.
