New biology education position - please pass along!

Folks,

We have a new bioscience education position open at the University of Northern Colorado that I would like to bring to your attention.  The initial deadline was November 1st, but we are continually accepting applications and desire more applicants in our pool.  I ask your help in passing this along to any person you feel may be qualified.  UNC is a wonderful institution for those who value education research it is one of the few places where both the faculty and administration respect and reward quality education work.  We have a great support system with the MAST Institute to make things happen for those involved in this type of work.  So if you know of someone who does good work in this area, but isnt being supported the way they would like, please pass along this job posting.

Qualifications and Experience:

This 9 month, tenure-track position has the following qualifications:

 
Minimum Requirements:
-- Doctorate in Biology Education, Biology or related field.  
                           -- Commitment to excellence in teaching
                         -- Evidence for potential for excellence in teaching
                          -- Demonstrated research expertise in quantitative analysis of teaching effectiveness with a minimum of two original research articles published in high quality journals in this area.
                         -- Minimum 2-year postdoctoral research experience
 -- Potential or past success securing external funding
 -- Ability to teach Biology Education and Biology courses
 
            
Preferred Requirements:
-- Teaching experience at the university level
-- Experience in supervising research students
-- Teaching expertise in areas of high need by the School
 
 
Position description:
Tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Biology Education (position # F99921).  We seek a candidate with a Doctorate and expertise in Biology Education, Biology, or related field.  The candidate must have the ability to teach lectures and laboratories for undergraduate students and graduate students, majors and non-majors, in Biology Education and Biology, and the ability to direct undergraduate and graduate students in biology education research. The individual will be expected to solicit external funding to support an active research program and contribute to service duties.

Salary and Benefits
:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Benefits available include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants.  These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges.  Further requirements may exist.
