On Monday, October 20, 4PM Dave Epstein will be
presenting a 45 minute seminar on the hog project at Almar Orchard, owned and managed by Jim Koan. Koans have an
organic apple orchard in Flushing and produce sweet and hard cider as well as
offer fresh apples. They have been working with MSU, conducting research to
find an economical and ecological means to manage the plum curculio larvae, a
major pest in apples in Michigan. Thought the sustainable and
organic crowds might be interested in
attending this seminar and the farm. This event is free and open to the
interested public..
David Epstein, Dept of Entomology,
Michigan State University will be
presenting: This little piggie eats beetles, this little piggie eats apple scab:
Integrating hogs for reduced-input, sustainable orchard pest management
