Michigan State University is hosting the first American Indian Identify
Conference in the nation on October 16 and 17, 2008 in East Lansing at
their Kellogg Conference Center.  The name of the conference is:
"Neocolonial Inscription and Performance of American Indian identify in
American Higher Education."   The conference will attempt to address and
review issues of American Indian identify in higher education.  The two
day conference will examine key issues such as tribal sovereignty,
faculty hiring, current university practices allowing
self-identification, and explore who should represent American Indians
in American Indian higher education programs and departments.  You can

MSU is not charging a registration fee; however, if you are interested
in participating in the meals or reception you must register to pay for
