Michigan State University has recently made an agreement with Oracle for a Campus Site License. The agreement applies to the following products:

WARNING: A number of trial components not included in the license are automatically installed with the Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. Under the terms of the agreement, MSU faculty and staff have the ability to access these additional components and evaluate them during a 30-day free trial period.

  1. Use of any additional component(s) other than those included as part of the four licensed products above must cease on the 31st day (unless a license has been purchased from Oracle for the additional product).
  2. If a license has not been purchased for additional products used after the 30th day, you risk being charged by Oracle for any downloaded products outside of the MSU Campus Site license agreement.
  3. Turning off the additional components in order to avoid their inadvertent access, use, and charge is not an option. Please note: for a number of these trial products, single licenses are not available requiring site licenses to be purchased (site licenses can run thousands of dollars).

MSU students, faculty, and staff may purchase licenses for the Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition Oracle Databases, Real Application Clusters, Tuning Pack, and Diagnostics Pack from the MSU Computer Store (http://cstore.msu.edu). The initial purchase price for an annual license is $100. After the initial purchase, there will be a $25 annual renewal fee for the use of the license. License owners will be assigned an Oracle contact person for technical support.

Already Own an Oracle Database license?
The MSU campus-wide site license covers existing licenses for the Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition Oracle Databases, Real Application Clusters, Tuning Pack, and Diagnostics Pack. Support will not need to be renewed for these licenses as support will be provided under the MSU site license.
