Re: [MSUNAG] Mac laptop screen repair? To my knowledge, Apple doesn’t cover screen repairs unless it’s a mechanical defect (for example, the screen fading issue some older PowerBooks suffered). When sent into Apple a screen repair usually costs several hundred dollars, which would be in line with most independent shops. You could always get a panel yourself and do the repair – it’s difficult but not impossible. However, that would void whatever warranty you have left. The advantage of bringing it somewhere AppleCare certified is that after the replacement your warranty would still be good on the rest of the components.

Maybe it is/was the difference between parts being covered and parts +
labor being covered by the specific warranty?
